ABOUT ME
Hi there! It’s nice to meet you. My name is Gail Geiger, and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York. (License No. 010247-01)
Thank you for considering me as a part of your journey towards healing.
I have been practicing psychotherapy for 8 years. I received my BA in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz in 2012, and went on to receive my MS in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY New Paltz in 2016.
As my first job out of grad school, I was honored to be chosen as the first counselor for a pilot program collaboration between the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Facebook. I offered crisis counseling through Facebook Messenger to clients throughout the country. While the program ultimately ended, my experience taught me so much about helping others in their darkest times.
In 2018, I went on to work for an OASAS treatment facility in New York City, offering group and individual counseling to those struggling with homelessness, incarceration, and substance abuse at a residential treatment community. My time there remains some of the most meaningful work of my career, and the exposure to a diverse population was so important in helping me develop a culturally competent framework for my practice.
Currently, I work full-time for Lyra Health, a company that partners with major corporations to provide short-term therapy for Employee Assistant Programs.
I began my part-time private practice in 2023, and am excited to expand my opportunities to work with people from all walks of life, just like you!
I currently live in Brooklyn, and am originally from Long Island. Some of my favorite hobbies are tending to my houseplants, going to as many concerts as I can, and carving out time to read in the park.
